Baie-Trinité (Pointe-des-Monts)

Baie-Trinité (Pointe-des-Monts)

The Pointe-des-Monts lighthouse dates back to 1830. The ancient lighthouse keeper’s house nowadays hosts an inn and a restaurant. A museum tells the story of lighthouse keepers in Canada. The Pointe-des-Monts chapel, build in 1898, was restored in 1964 by one of the last keepers. Each year, shipwrecks, bird watching and scuba diving attract many visitors looking for adventure. The great whales often come close to the shore to feed. In this remote area, you can still find ecologically intact areas, like Le Sentier de Charlotte et le Tentement Ashini. Charlotte Cardinal and Gabriel Ashini were the last leader of an original Amerindian community that lived in the area until 1890.

Les Écumeurs du Saint-Laurent (Les Escoumins)

Since 1997, Les Écumeurs du Saint-Laurent has been offering boat trips in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The captains and guide-interpreters enjoy giving passengers information about marine mammals.
